In 1988 Andrew Phillip Gregory (Sluggy Ranks) known for his 'cultural' lyrics, worked with producer Whitfield "Witty" Henry on the single "95% Black. The track brought a greater self awareness to common folk about change, black imprisonment and the prevalence of righteousness. Such an impact the song had that besides being an anthem in crowds, the riddim was and up to this present time refereed to as the 95% Black Riddim. As with alot of riddims from the 80's there are several versions of the "tonight Riddim" which made its debut in 1967 by Keith & Tex under the production of Derrick Harriott, and yes as you would have guessed, the name of the track was "Tonight". Patronage to Witty, Penthouse, Jammys and Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell who are just a few of the Producers and Labels behind this nostalgic riddim.
